  6. Windows 10 Mobile is so pretty, slow on my Lumia 520. Anyway, I like Here apps, on the device, downloadable usable in no data coverage, no gps makes it more difficult, also have them on my Samsung S6. But reading around the interwebs, from the 30 June 2016, Here apps will no longer work on Windows 10 Mobile. The official blurb is here: http://360.here.com/2016/03/15/important-information-about-here-apps-on-windows-phone/ and then this bit: This means the HERE apps will no longer work on devices running Windows 10 mobile after June 30, 2016. To prepare for this change, we have also decided to remove the HERE apps from the Windows 10 store on March 29, 2016. So Drive+ and Transit no longer work, on Windows 10 Mobile, but they still work on Windows Phone 8... HERE is deeply integrated in the Windows Phone 8 operating system. The HERE apps for Windows Phone 8 will continue to work for you without any disruption. However, we made the business decision to stop the development of new features. Additionally, the maps developed specifically for Windows Phone will not be updated. But the maps wont be updated, yay. But the apps still work on Android and IOS, why is that? Back in August 2015, HERE was sold for EUR 2.8 Billion to AUDI AG, BMW Group and Daimler AG, see here: http://company.nokia.com/en/news/press-releases/2015/08/03/nokia-completes-next-stage-of-transformation-with-agreement-to-sell-here-to-automotive-industry-consortium-at-an-enterprise-value-of-eur-28-billion I have been looking for this news on Mobile and Gadget, but could not find it

Mediatek or the lack of Mediatek

Mediatek had a stand at XDA Dev Con 2014, they were very interesting to speak to. The most interesting part was their openness to open-sourcing as much as possible that they use that is not proprietary.

  13. I own a Nexus 7, I picked it up in March this year, £100 from a well known retailer, 32gb storage, introduced with Android 4.1.2, interesting bootloader. Over the year I have tested it out with several wireless routers to check performance, due to wireless congestion in the location that I live. Openwrt works best by the way, but that's a story for another time. Google released Lollipop factory images for the Nexus 4, and the Nexus 7 2012, lets call it Nakasi from now on, it's far less words Installing it is a case of grabbing the factory image from https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images making sure you have a working fastboot and adb, unlocking the bootloader, run the shell script, and locking the bootloader afterwards. Within the first hour, the stock launcher has crashed, the setup process is meant to find updates before you add your account details, it doesn't, your device is not encrypted automatically, new devices only apparently, and it's still running the same kernel version it was released with 2 years ago, 3.1.10... Other than that, Lollipop is pretty different, battery life is the same as KitKat, and quite a few applications in the Play Store are incompatible for unknown reasons. And I can now make calls using the hangouts dialer?
