  1. I'm planning to install a new burglar alarm in my home, with the intention of adding a speech dialler to the system. This module in essence allows the alarm to phone/sms several numbers to alert them if an alarm condition is triggered. A few of these systems can contact you using a mobile SIMcard, which is why I'm after a low usage sim card. So my question is what's a good sim to get that is either a) a PAYG sim that has a way of being "used" other than being put into a mobile and making a call/sms so that it doesn't get disabled for inactive use b) a cheap monthly sim A monthly sim would be the fire and forget solution, and so far I've seen a SIM for Idmobile for £4 per month. I've also read that for a PAYG solution that Giff Gaff has an inactivity period of 6 months, and topping up with a goody bag will mark the account as active, so I figure that if I top up every couple of months with a £5 goody bag then that might do the trick. Downside is that I have to remember to do that (recurring calendar event probably) but cheaper overall. Any other alternatives or ideas?
