  1. Getting a new gas boiler fitted Tuesday. Had a quote from British Gas who are crazy expensive at £4K. An independent company will do the same work for £2400. As nice as Hive looks it ain't worth £1600! So I'll be having a Nest thermostat installed by the independent (it was their preferred wireless solution).

    Founded by iPod designers Tony Fadell and Matt Rogers, Nest Thermostats and smoke detectors became objects of gadget lust due to their beautiful design and simplicity. Sadly they were also out of reach for most people. (Not because they were put up too high on the wall). Google have promised lots of cool things in the future by merging Google and Nest's skills, and also promise to continue to support iOS. Fingers crossed it will be affordable too..... Source
