  1. According to digitimes, Sony are looking to start producing Windows Phone 8 mobiles this year.It would seem like a brave decision given Microsoft's recent purchase of Nokia's handset division and it's already dominant position with WP8. Samsung and HTC have also had a go with limited success, but maybe Sony feel they need to branch out from Android? The article also mentions Sony looking to support Firefox Mobile OS too. Sony Release Magic Lenses!

  5. I'm really looking forward to seeing these two 'attachable lenses' become official. I was recently looking for a camera that would allow me to take decent quality photos and upload them directly to social or sharing sites - these could well be the answer to that! The QX100 looks especially interesting, as I suspect the QX10 won't be a massive upgrade on the latest smartphone in-built cameras. If they work well with the iPhone or iOS in general, I'm sold on the idea. Anybody else? The reaction seems pretty lukewarm so far.
  6. Carried over from WM It's due to be launched on 4th September in Berlin and Three are rumoured to start selling it on 24th September. That makes a pleasant change if Sony will have a quick turnaround. I'm really looking forward to it (based on the rumours), but worry it won't get noticed in the upcoming iPhone onslaught.

    News: Sony Goes 4K

The Koreans have been battling the 4K over the last few months and Sony have now finally joined the party with bang.Firstly, Sony have shown the mammoth 84" KD-84X9005. The keen eyed of you will have noticed the 'X'. The screen has more than a passing resemblance to the X-Series of old with some very sexy hanging side speakers. Interestingly, Sony appear to have opted for passive 3D glasses for the first time. Given the screen's resolution, I guess they figured no one was likely to release any 4K 3D pictures anytime soon. But you don't have any 4K telly to watch, I hear you bleat. Fear not. Sony have also released the STR-DA5800ES. A 4K upscaling AV receiver so you can upscale your normal viewing. Both products have lots of exciting new processing power etc and should hopefully be with us for Christmas (obviously not round at my house). Sources here and here Click here to view the article
