Yup. Saw all the horror stories about that but to be honest I haven’t noticed any issue with it (burn in may take time, granted). The pixel 2 XL has been phenomenal - camera is better than the iPhone X without question (although iPhone X camera very good also); and the Google experience is far more refined than it used to be.

Not that I have experienced yet. Pretty clear to be honest - I’ve tried cell, Wifi calling on VF, and FaceTime audio. The latter is crystal clear.

I have found the battery life on the X to be excellent. It’s the first iPhone I can go a day without charging (given admittedly the very heavy use my iphones often get during the working day). It may be somewhat due to the phone being new compared to my 7, but on a really busy day my 7 could be 50% down my lunch and would never last till evening without a charge unless I basically didn’t use it.

...also slightly easier with the double tap side button gesture as it works from any screen. With my iPhone 8 you had catch it at the precise moment between screen wake and unlock for the double home button gesture to work without just unlocking the phone!

I am......and to the app ecosystem generally. Have to to say though - more and more I use it, the more and more I am loving it. Forgot what I liked about  products.

Screen is great and notch is total non-issue. Unlock is as reliable as Touch ID. Camera excellent. It’s without question best iPhone. I think the debate now is a software one - iOS vs what Google are doing in android on the Pixels.

My two are sitting in a post room waiting for me while I work. Will see whether they’re keepers or not... In the meanwhile I leave you with this: https://www.standard.co.uk/news/techandgadgets/iphone-x-flogged-for-up-to-15000-just-minutes-after-going-on-sale-a3675491.html 😂

iPhone X wait times went to 5-6 weeks within minutes.....will not be great for Apple over holiday season (although the spin will be “demand was unprecedented”).

I suspect you will be able to for the majority of the phones on the market, including Apple handsets, for at least another 12-18 months.

As far as I can see (unless I missed something earlier in the thread), there’s no suggestion that FaceID doesn’t work perfectly well. The Samsung equivalent was pretty hit and miss, but Apple tends not to adopt these technologies until it can deploy them effectively - seldom first, but usually better at implementation. TouchID when it first came out was better than competitor fingerprint recognition. I would be genuinely surprised if FaceID doesn’t work as well as or better than TouchID - otherwise I can’t believe Apple would have replaced it. The problem at the Federighi demo wasn’t a failure but how the system was designed to work. Just very unfortunate from a marketing perspective! I suspect that once people have it that this will fall away. My bigger issue is that it can only store one face - my wife and I use TouchID on each other’s phones. Will be more annoying to have to use PIN codes also.

If FaceID works as it should, I doubt very much anyone is going to be bothered about TouchID or fingerprint recognition in future models. Apple won’t take a step back.

I have downloaded iOS 11 and the Apple Pay functionality is not there yet. I hope this is just the beta and not a geographic consideration. The android version of payments still hasn't made it over afaik, which I imagine is regulatory or a restriction by the banks.

    Apple Pay

I have found that many places have over £30 but don't even realise it - I very rarely use cash any more, and rarely use credit cards either.  pay covers about 70% of my expenditure I would estimate.
